Tree  and shrub root fertilization gets underneath the grass roots and feeds nutrients directly. Sometimes fertilizing on the surface is adequate but if the tree is weak or you want the best fruits possible, we recommend periodic root fertilization which requires an injector stake so the lawn doesn't get torn up.
